Desire, Death & Destruction (or just another day in the ballet studio) – by Joie Brown

Stunning artwork from one of our multi-talented ballet students: in this triptych, Desire, Death and Destruction are 3 sisters – Desire can’t go anywhere without Death and Destruction following her. Executed in watercolors and inks.

Joie is a 26 year old San Francisco-based illustrator who is studying for a graduate degree at the Academy of Art University. She has loved art since birth and enjoys watercolor above all other mediums. She received a BFA from Kennesaw State, and has been working as an Illustrator ever since. It is her dream to become part of a creative concept design team, but also enjoys doing whimsical watercolor illustrations of fantasy and fairy tale sort of material. She discovered and fell in love with ballet at the ripe age of 21, having never done it as a child. The past five years of training have been difficult for her (she suffers from a mild kinesthetic issue), but it has been a sincere passion since the start. She wants to continue learning how to express herself through it, and finds that the dance feeds her art, and her art feeds her dance. In her spare time she does swing dance and plays video games. Two of her favorite things are corgis and cupcakes.
