With her racehorse physique, technical facility – barely diminished after 30 seasons with New York City Ballet, despite injury – and her “bring it on” attitude, Whelan was dynamite on stage at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco in January, kicking off the American tour of a newly refurbished Restless Creature.
